Abstract

634,903. Rope railways. KING, Ltd., G. W., and BURROWS, A. T. C. Nov. 26, 1947, No. 31346. [Class 104 (ii)] In a conveyer system of the kind wherein loadcarrying trolleys are propelled along a predetermined path, generally at floor level, by the action of upstanding pusher dogs or abutments carried by an endless driving chain, the drive to the driving chain 10 is effected by a caterpillar mechanism comprising an endless chain 14 with a number of spaced lateral abutments. 16 which engage the links of the chain 10, and some or all of the links 17 of the chain 14 are provided at one side with a plate 2t which co-operates with track member 11 at the other side of the track to support the skid plates 13 of the pusher dogs 12 carried by the driving chain 10, the near side track member having a section removed to allow the abutments 16 to engage the driving chain. To prevent undue lateral displacement of the chain 10 by the caterpillar drive, the track member 11 at the side of the chain remote from the caterpillar drive is provided with a series of thrust rollers 25. The separation of the two chains 10, 14 is assisted by stripper plates 24.
