[Class 132 (iii)] A balance arm has a toy aeroplane or the like fixed to one end and a balance weight fixed to the other end and is pivoted about a horizontal fulcrum on a vertical rotatable spindle which spindle has, fixed thereto, a pulley, round which is passed a cable or cord by which the spindle may be rotated. Preferably the aeroplane is of such a weight that the turning moment exerted by the aeroplane, and the part of the arm on its side of the horizontal pivot, exceeds that exerted by the balance weight and the other part of the arm so that, as the speed of rotation of the spindle decreases the aeroplane is lowered towards the ground. There may be a hook under the plane arranged to carry a message or bomb. As shown, the spindle 5, which is rotatably mounted on a base 8 and is held perpendicular thereto by a brace 7, is rotated by the cord 10. When the spindle is rotated uniformly the aeroplane 1 will fly round in a horizontal plane. If, however, the speed is varied abruptly it can be made to describe a circle in a plane which is inclined to the horizontal. The hook 11 on the underside of the aeroplane is arranged transversely with its point inwards. An imitation message or bomb 14 has a hook 15 on top by which it is hung on the hook 11, on which it tends to remain due to centrifugal force. If, however, the aeroplane is stopped abruptly, when above the horizontal plane containing the horizontal pivot 4, the bomb or message slides off the hook.
