[Class 135] [Also in Group XXXVII] A snap-action mechanism comprises a trifurcated blade-spring with its outer tension legs mounted cantilever-fashion on the base at 2, and with its free end movable between two stops 8, 9 under the action of a central bowed compression leg 3 pressing in a groove 4 in a pivoted operating lever 5 which is movable between two stops 16, 17 on the base. The leg 3 may alternatively press in a groove in a transversely slidable plunger for push-pull operation, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) or the plunger may be extended to form a double-ended push-rod. The Specification states that the mechanism may be used to operate a valve.
