[Class 124] [Also in Group XXIV] An internally screwed coupling sleeve for holding a drill rod, a drill steel, or a drill shank in abutment against a drill bit, a drill steel, or a drill rod has the pitch of the screwthread more than one-third and less than twice the core diameter and the radius of curvature of the root of the thread larger than half the pitch. As shown, a drill rod 1 is held in abutment against a drill bit 2 by a sleeve 3. The radius of curvature of the crest of the thread may be less than that of the root. Two or more rods, or a rod and a shank, may be connected together by one or more such sleeves to produce a long implement.
