Abstract

630,571. X-ray apparatus. MACHLETT LABORATORIES, Inc. Nov. 26, 1946, No. 35065. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1945. [Class 98 (i)] [Also in Group XL (a)] An X-ray tube has a circular filament surrounding and slightly behind the target disc 34 with respect to the dome-shaped window, so that electrons take a curved path to the target, all the radiation produced passing through the window without interception. The tube may be adapted for irradiating liquids by mounting a casing 47 over the window by screwing it to a flanged part 46 on the tube, an interposed gasket 50 forming a liquid-tight joint. The liquid to be irradiated flows through inlet 55 and inner tube 51. between the window and a concave plate 52 where it is constrained to a prolonged path by a spiral partition 53, and out again through exit 56.
