Abstract

630,305. Boxes. PULLMAN SPRING- FILLED CO., Ltd., and MARSTRAND, K. W. June 26, 1945, No..16314. [Class 18] [Also in Group XXXII] Shock absorbing means for supporting the contents within a container comprises a battery of helical coiled springs each preloaded above the load of the contents by cup members 2 connected by a tie bar 6 and positioned between outer walls and inner castellated walls 15 surrounding the contents. The preloading means 6 also restricts the expansion of those springs which are not resisting shock loads at any one time and prevents an additional load being imposed by these springs on those springs resisting shock loads. The helical springs, arranged in' rows and held together with wire 7, may be contained within a bag 1a. Padding may be provided between the springs and the bag may act as an air damper to assist in absorbing the shock loads.
