Abstract

630,290. Load-handling trucks. YALE & TOWNE MANUFACTURING CO. April 23, 1947, No. 10834. Convention date, April 26, 1946. [Class 78 (iii)] A lifting truck of the kind having a lifting head 10, an elevating platform 20 mounted thereon and adapted to be moved upwardly relative thereto, a lifting wheel 43 mounted on a support member 40 pivoted at 39 to the rear end of the elevating platform and an actuating rod 45, 47, 48, 49, 50 connecting the support member to a lifting lever pivotally mounted on the forward end of the platform for moving support member 40 about its pivot when the forward end of the platform is raised, thus effecting the raising of the rear end of the platform, wherein the lifting lever 58, pivoted at 57 to a bracket 56 secured to the platform, is actuated by means of a cam member 63 fixed to the lifting head, which is engaged by an upwardly extending portion, by means of a roller 60 freely mounted at 61 coacting with surface 62 of cam 63, a downwardly extending portion of the lever being pivoted at 59 to the actuating rod by means of fork 50. Portion 48 of the rod is of adjustable length by means of the screwed portions 49, a further fork 47 connecting this to the portion 45 pivoted at 44 to support 40. A spring 53 is connected between a plate 51 fixed to fork 47 and a bracket 55 on the platform leg 38 and adjustably screwed by nuts 54. This keeps roller 60 in engagement with cam surface 62. The platform is raised at the forward end by a centrally disposed ram H the piston 33 of which is pivoted at 34 to brackets 35 secured to vertical standard 21 of platform 20, the lower end of the cylinder being pivoted to brackets 37 on the lifting head. Links 31, 32 connect bearing plates 22, 23 on the platform with plates 16 on the lifting head, the links being pivoted by means of rods 17, 18, 28, 30. Cam members 63 are fixed on each side of the lifting head to the bearing plates 16. The lifting head can be adapted to accommodate platforms of different width such as that indicated in dotted lines, Fig. 4, by moving one or both of the bearing plates 16 and changing the links and rods connecting with bearing plates 22, 23.
