[Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XL (c)] In a pulse width discriminator of the type in which the input signal, Fig. 2 (A), is integrated, Fig. 2 (B), so that discrimination can be effected on an amplitude basis, the signal is integrated two or more times, Fig. 2 (C), to facilitate amplitude discrimination. As shown in Fig. 1, networks 3, 4 and 6, 7 each integrate the signal appearing at the anode of valve 1, valve 10 conducting on the peaks of the wave form produced by long pulses to produce an output pulse. Valves 1 and 8 serve to discharge the capacitors 4 and 7 when a pulse ends. Diode 8 may be a non- thermionic rectifier, the resistor 6 being omitted if the rectifier has a suitable back resistance.
