Abstract

629,842. Electric battery lamps. HARSKI, 1. Nov. 20, 1947, No. 30762. [Class 39(ii)] [Also in Groups XXXVII and XXXVIII] An electric battery lamp is combined with a burglar or like alarm by providing a switch which is connected to a trip wire or the like, or to means arranged to be moved by a thief on entry, and operates an audible device such as a bell or buzzer 11 connected in the battery circuit. A lamp in a parallel circuit may be switched on when the audible device is operated. The alarm switch comprises a spindle 14 carrying two spaced metal contacts 16, 17 and connected at its inner end to a tensioned spring 18, the outer end being provided with a knob 19 for the connection of a string or wire which is then attached to a door, window, or other article and tensioned to that the contacts 16, 17 are approximately at equal distances from a pair of resilient contact fingers 13. Control switches 8 and 12 of the toggle type are connected in the lamp and alarm circuits respectively. An increasing tension on the cord or wire attached to the knob 19 closes the alarm circuit over contacts 13, 17; alternatively, if the cord or wire used is breakable under tension the contacts 13, 16 are closed by the spring 18.
