629,793. Electric cables. BRITISH TRANSPORT COMMISSION, LONDON PASSENGER TRANSPORT BOARD, and DELL, R. Dec. 1, 1947, No. 31741. [Class 36] An electric cable comprises one or more cores covered with a sheath of natural or synthetic rubber, the outer portion of the sheath being divided by grooves to form ridges. In the case of a single core cable Fig. 1, the thickness of the sheath 11 is substantially equal to the radius of the core 10, and the grooves 12 have a depth not less than a quarter the thickness of the sheath, and preferably one-third the thickness of the sheath. In a multicore cable, Fig. 2, a plurality of cores 14 are arranged around a central support 15, the outer sheath 16 having a thickness greater than the diameter of an individual core. The grooves 18 have a depth greater than half the thickness of the sheath 16 and are equal in number to the cores.
