Abstract
A stable suspension of solid particles of an antioxidant in a latex of natural or synthetic rubber latex is obtained by melting 30 parts of an antioxidant, adding about 6 parts of an ethanolamine soap, dispersing the mass in a hot aqueous casein salt solution of about 10 per cent solids, in an amount equivalent to about 3 parts of casein, and then mixing 1 part of this emulsion with about 2 parts of a concentrated latex. The soap p may be potassium, ammonium or sodium oleate or stearate; or di-, tri- or tetra-ethanolamine oleate; or amine soaps. In an example 2, 2, 4- trimethyl-6-phenyl-1, 2, dihydroquinoline and diphenyl para-phenylene diamine are melted together and incorporated with triethanolamine and oleic acid. The molten mass was added to a hot aqueous solution of ammonium caseinate and the mix run through a colloid mill. The suspension is preferably incorporated in a master batch of 60 per cent latex and added to latex as required.
