Abstract
629,318. Swash-plate mechanism. BRUGES, W. E., BRUMER, J., and PESTEREFF, N. V., (trading as HEAT ENGINE CO. OF SCOTLAND). March 11, 1947, No. 6735. [Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In wobbler plate mechanisms for interconnecting a rotary shaft 12 and pistons 6 parallel thereto, a fluid cushioning device is provided for limiting excessive transverse movement of each wrist pin 3 with respect to each crosshead 5 under transient load conditions. An oil stream flowing from the shaft 12, through a radial duct 17 in the slant 11, star plate 8, and hollow stud 7 enters oil dashpot chambers 16, 18 in which the pin head 2 and wrist pin 3 are contained. Cushioning is effected by movement of wrist pin 3 in pin head 2 towards either side of cap 1, thereby tending to close outlet ports 21 through which the compressed fluid escapes.
