629,235. Pistons; cylinders. PETERSEN, O. Oct. 5, 1945, No. 26040. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1943. [Class 122(i)] [Also in Group XXVII] The parts of an internal combustion engine such as the top of the piston which are exposed directly to the combustion flame are coated with hard chromium plating, preferably to a thickness of from 0.025-0.15 mm., hard chromium plating being deposition of the plating directly on to the base metal, without the interposition of nickel or copper, and providing a hard porous surface incapable of taking a polish.
