629,033. Cigarette cases. GORDON, E. F. June 13, 1947, No. 15585. [Class 18] A cigarette case comprises a rectangular container 10 adapted detachably to receive a packet of cigarettes, two complementary hinged lids 19 biassed by springs 21 to swing open on operation of releasable catch means and a spacer member 30 on the base 11 for displacing the cigarettes relative to the packet so that their upper ends project into the lids 19 and are accessible when the lids open. As shown, the container 10 consists of a U-shaped frame with the limbs 13 connected by strips 28 which are dished between their ends to frictionally engage and retain the cigarette packet and may carry a name or other marking on their outer faces. The lids 19 are held closed by the engagement of projections 25 in holes 24 formed in a forked resilient catch member 22, Fig. 4, that can be pushed inwardly, to release the lids, by a thumb piece 27. If desired, each lid may have hinge knuckles with inwardly projecting lugs for engaging the upper edge of the packet when the lids are closed.
