Abstract

629,000. Anodization of sheet aluminium. REYNOLDS METALS CO. Dec. 23, 1946, No. 37747. Convention date, Feb. 2. [Class 41] In the anodization of sheet aluminium 1 which is drawn from a roll 2, an auxiliary tank 5 and a main tank 10 are provided which contain anodizing solution of the same composition. The tank 5 has a roll C therein which is connected to the positive terminal of the source of current. At the surface of the tank 10 where the sheet enters the solution, insulating barriers 16 are provided which prevent electrical action resulting in striations across the sheet. The cathodes comprise a lower plate 11 with upwardly-extending plates and an upper plate 12 with downwardly extending plates, the sheet 1 passing between the -plates. The electrolyte in tank 10 is circulated by means of a pump 26. The sheet 1 is rinsed in a tank 18 and dried by an electric heater 24 before being wound on a roll 3. Specification 628,999 is referred to.
