Abstract

628,292. Windows. BECKETT, LAYCOCK & WATKINSON, Ltd., and PERNETTA, C. April 18, 1947, No. 10373. [Class 20(iii)] A window pan construction involving little or no welding comprises a corner piece with a curved channel portion and a flange or plate secured to it as by rivets or screws, and lengths of straight channel section constituting adjacent parts of the pan also mechanically secured on it. The curved channel may comprise a curved bar 25 of rectangular section with straight ends 27 riveted to the outer surface of the base 26 of the adjacent straight channels and having side plates 29, 30 also riveted to it. Plate 30 is extended to provide a mounting flange 30 which overlies the wall round the window opening and which may be welded to the abutting flanges of the straight sections. The bar may be slightly recessed at its ends so that its inner surface lies flush with the base of the straight channels. Or it may be of angle section with one limb forming the base and the other a side wall of the channel, the other wall consisting of a plate apertured to receive lugs projecting from a backing strip riveted to the outer, convex side of the bar and to the straight sections. The channel may have an inner side wall higher than the outer, and inner and outer packing strips 17, 18 lie between the glass and the respective walls.
