Abstract

628,112. Mops and like cleansing appliances. LONG, A. H., and LONG, A. T. March 7, 1946, No. 7184. [Class 19] c A mop-or duster-head, of the type detachably mountable on the base of a support or handle, is provided with a back including a pocket of substantially oblong shape extending over substantially the full length of the back, the mouth of the pocket being at or near one end of the oblong, and a flexible strap extending across the width of the upper surface of the pocket and between the mouth of the pocket and the opposite end thereof, said pocket being adapted to receive a metal frame secured to the bottom of a handle and the strap being adapted to engage a re-entrant portion of the frame to prevent the undesired removal of the head from the frame. As shewn, the mop-head comprises a flexible back 4 preferably made of two thicknesses of canvas to form a pocket, there being lengths of coarse textile threads attached to form the head with preferably longer threads around the outside to form a fringe. The frame 8 fits closely within the pocket and has a re-entrant portion 9 which is passed under a strap 12 of canvas or the like secured to the pocket thereby preventing undesired removal of said frame. The re-entrant portion of the frame has a straight section, transverse of the main length of the frame, which serves to support a handle socket 10. The provisional Specification states that the flexible back of the mop has a deep pocket with a strap adapted to engage a part of the frame to prevent its undesired removal.,
