'[Class 58] [Also in Group XXX] A straw discharging and windrowing attachment in or for a combine or harvester thresher comprises a swingable deflector 5 operable to deflect the straw laterally to either side of the straw delivery hood 2, relatively stationary inclined delivery chute or chutes 6 for receiving the deflected straw and depositing it to one side or other of the thresher and mechanism for operating the deflector. As shown, the deflector 5 mounted on a shaft 4 has a chute 6 integral with it which inclines downwardly and laterally. Opposed arms 20, 20 are mounted on the shaft connected by cables 21, 21 to a pivoted yoke 22 having a handle 23 by which the deflector is moved. A spring 32 holds the combined deflector and chute in the inclined positions. In a modification, Figs. 2 and 3, (not shown), the deflector only is carried by the shaft 4 and a pair of chutes is fixed one each side of the thresher. The deflector is positioned by means of a crank handle and gearing and another modification shows the cable operated arms as in Fig. 1. In a further modification, Figs. 5 and 6, (not shown), the deflector is operated by a rack pivoted thereto and held by a ratchet., In further modifications, Fig. 7, (not shown), the deflector is operated by a single cable, and in Fig. 8, (not shown), by link and lever mechanism. In the modification in Fig. 9, (not shown), the chutes are integral with the deflector and when one is lowered the other is raised to inoperative position, the straw being always deposited on the same side of the deflector.
