Abstract

628,009. Elongated lamp fittings. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Jan. 29, 1947, No. 2767. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1944. [Classes 75(ii) and 75(iv)] A support 10 for a luminous tube 15 has a U-shaped profile and is mounted with its limbs 12 directed away from the tube and a trough-shaped cavity 14 is provided in the bottom of the support with its open side facing the tube. Lampholders 17 and the accessory apparatus 16 are secured above the trough 14 which accommodates the supply conductors 21. The support is secured to a mounting surface 18 by screws 20 which pass through the bottom of the trough 14. Fig. 3 shows the tube secured to a vertical wall and fitted with strips 33, 34 of glass, synthetic resin or mirrors, which are supported in incisions 32, 31 in hinged arms 30. These arms 30 are hinged to corner stays 29 which are clamped under the heads of bolts 28 securing U-shaped strips covering the parts of the trough 14 not covered by lampholders or accessory apparatus. The weight of the strip 34 keeps the strip 33 gripped between the arm 30 and a U-shaped clip 26 clamped between the support 10 and the wall. The luminous tube prevents lifting of the arm 30. The U-shaped covers for the trough 14 may be secured in position by the engagement of their free ends, which are outwardly bent, with widened parts at the bottom of the trough 14. A plurality of luminous tubes may be mounted in tandem on the support.
