626,157. Stereophonic recording. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. March 18, 1947, No. 7450. Convention date, June 6, 1944. [Class 40 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIX] The high-frequency tones of one channel of a stereophonic recording device are recorded in a first track and the high-frequency tones of the second channel together with the low-frequency tones of both channels are recorded in the second track, the first track having additionally one or more auxiliary records of audible frequency, less than the lowest frequency of the high-frequency tones. Two spaced microphones M1, M2 feed amplifiers V1, V2, the outputs of which are fed in phase opposition to the tubes B1, B2 of a push-pull amplifier. The primary windings of transformers T1, T2, have low inductance so as to pass only the highfrequency tones to the cutting styluses S1, S2, the polarity of the first channel being restored at K2. The primary of transformer T3 is shunted by condensers C to pass the combined low-frequencies to the stylus S1, and the auxiliary record on channel 3, preferably of 250 to 600 c/s., is added to the stylus S2.
