Abstract
625,060. Nozzles with cut-off devices ; fluid-actuated valves. BAHNSON CO. Oct. 15, 1946, No. 30714. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1945. [Classes 69 (iii) and 135] An atomiser includes a water valve which is held closed by a spring against the water pressure but which is opened when compressed air is also admitted. The valve comprises a stem 14 secured to the rear of the casing and a seating 26 which, with sleeve 18 is free to slide over stem 14 under the influence of water pressure on diaphragm 8. Clearance between stem and sleeve enables water to reach the valve from the rear compartment. A second sleeve 19 which slides over sleeve 18 is connected to the air diaphragm 5 and also transmits the pressure of spring 3 to the rear diaphragm 8 through nut 31 which bears on a collar 23 on sleeve 18. The spring 3 is so adjusted that the pressure of water on diaphragm 8 will not move the sleeve assemblies forward against the spring. When compressed air is admitted at 9, however, the additional pressure sleeve to diaphragm 5 being larger than diaphragm 8 opens the valve. A pin 21 on stem 14 serves both to clean the jet 27 and to impart turbulence to the flow of water.
