Abstract
624,772. Projection screens. DU MONT LABORATORIES, Inc., A. B. May 24; 1946, No. 15843. Convention date, June 12, 1945. Drawings to Specification. [Class 97 (i)] The screen comprises a flexible plate having a smooth light-reflecting surface with flexible lenticular transparent elements attached thereto. In one form, a metal base is sprayed first with a lacquer and then with a solution of a transparent substance which may be the same as that from which the lacquer is produced. The latter solution, however, is of such concentration, and sprayed with such an air supply, that the droplets are nearly solid on striking the base and embed themselves in the lacquer layer to form lenticular elements. This lacquer may be opaque to prevent passage of light between adjacent elements. The whole screen may be coated with a lacquer of different refractive index from the substance of the lenticular elements, to form a smooth surface over them. The screen may be bent to give the best light distribution to the spectators, during which bending the lenticular elements are also distorted.
