Abstract

624,541. Slot wedges for dynamo-electric machines. FROST & CO., Ltd., H., and PERRIGO, A. E. B. May 31, 1947, Nos. 14479 and 23793. [Class 35] The transverse reluctance of a magnetic slotwedge is increased by having at least one closed aperture along its central portion. There may be a plurality of round apertures as shown in Fig. 3 or the apertures may be extended in the longitudinal direction of the slot wedge. If desired, two staggered rows of oblong slots may be used or the oblong slots may be placed obliquely across the wedge as in Fig. 8. The wedge may be curved or flat in section and may have a single slot running along most of its length. The wedge may engage grooves in the teeth as shown in Figs. 3 and 8, or may have side flanges 19 fitting against the slot walls as in Fig. 13. The wedges may be tapered slightly. According to the second Provisional Specification a single aperture extending along the slot may be open at one end so that a shaped piece of wire can be used. Specification 611,867 is referred to in the first Provisional Specification.
