Abstract

623,145. Seed-sowing machines. MINCH, H., and MINCH, B. April 21, 1947, No. 10591. [Class 6(i)] The seed-depositing shoes of a multiplefurrow seed drill are arranged in at least three transverse rows, the shoes of any row being staggered in relation to those of other rows with respect to the direction of the furrows. In the form shown, the drill shoes are arranged in five transverse rows beneath a single seed hopper a provided with a rotary feed-wheel b. The shoes are mounted in staggered relation both longitudinally and transversely of the furrows and each group of three shoes (g<SP>1</SP>, g<SP>2</SP>, g<SP>3</SP>, or h<SP>1</SP>, h<SP>2</SP>, h<SP>3</SP>), depositing seed in alternate furrows, is located along a line diagonal to the furrows. The distance between the shoes in adjacent furrows may thus be as great as desired even if the furrows themselves are reduced in width. Separate feed wheels b may be mounted in the same hopper to feed different groups of drill shoes.
