Abstract

622,057. Condensers. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. March 7, 1947, No. 6478. Convention date, May 24, 1944. [Class 37] A resonant circuit for ultra-short waves includes a variable condenser having spiral electrodes, one of which has a width varying in stepwise manner in its longitudinal direction. In the particular embodiment, Fig. 1, a stationary spiral electrode 4, of constant width, is connected by a cross-piece 5 to an inner conductor 1. A movable, suitably guided, porcelain rod 7, connected to an outer conductor 2 by foil 10, carries an electrode 6. Conductors 1 and 2 are interconnected by a cross-piece 3. The width of the metal band, Fig. 2, comprising the unwound electrode 6, varies in stepwise manner such that each spiral turn, A, B, has a different constant width. Corners 11 may be bevelled, and the electrode widths may be equal in several succeeding turns.
