Abstract

621,440. Concrete mixers. BOYD & CO. (ENGINEERS), Ltd., J., and BOYD, J. Feb. 25, 1947, No. 5501. [Class 86] The vessel of a concrete mixer of the type which is rotatable about a vertical axis and is tiltable for emptying about a transverse axis comprises a number of plate components which are bent-inwards above and below a middle position and joined together along their sides and has convergent upper and lower portions. The middle portion 11 of each plate is rectangular, and merges into upper and lower portions 12, 13 of trapezoidal shape, the lower 13 being shorter than the upper 12. Eight of these plates are bent and joined along their sides to form an octagonal chamber with a pouring lip 14. A bottom plate 15 is secured in the bottom opening, and a bearing pin 10 having a flange 16 is welded to the plate 15. The vessel is rotated by means of a circular rack formed by a series of pegs 18 held in place by means of plates 19 and brackets, secured at 21, to the middle portion 11 of the vessel. The bearing pin 10 may be fixed to the frame and a bearing plate provided on the bottom of the vessel.
