Abstract

A synthetic bonding agent consists of melamine resin and evaporated sulphite waste liquor. The latter is stated to have a hardening action, but additional hardeners, e.g. potassium persulphate or ammonium chloride may be added. In examples, the following proportions are employed: (1) melamine resin powder 20 parts, sulphite liquor powder 10 parts, water 15 parts; (2) equal amounts of melamine resin, sulphite liquor powder and water; (3) melamine 30 parts, sulphite liquor 10 parts, hardener 1 part. A 5 per cent solution of potassium persulphate or a 10 per cent solution of ammonium chloride may be added. Specification 621,129 is referred to.
