620,761. Egg - boxes. MAPES CONSOLIDATED MANUFACTURING CO. April 15, 1946, No. 11532. Convention date, Sept. 28, 1945. [Class 18] An egg supporting flat 10 of moulded pulp for use in a box has rows of octagonal shaped cups 16 and means for locating the tops and bottoms of filler members 12. The tops of the filler members are located in downwardly facing channel formations 13 which are formed longitudinally and transversely of the flat between the octagonal cups and also near the edges of the flat. The bottoms of the filler members are located on saddles at the bottom of grooves 22 formed by the sides of the octagonal cups. At the edges of the flats shoulderlike parts 23 are formed to retain the lower ends of the outermost filler members. The octagonal shaped cup permits air to circulate round the lower end of the egg.
