Abstract

620,349. Signalling over power circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., WARDEN, F. W., HELLIER, W. H. M., and TOWNER, S. H. Jan. 10, 1947, No. 972. [Class 40 (iv)] A relay R to be operated by a direct current signal superimposed on an A.C. supply network is connected in series with a single-winding choke C which becomes saturated when the D.C. signal is received and lowers its impedance to half cycles of the A.C. supply of the same polarity, with the result that the relay is operated by the combined effect of the peaks of A.C. and the applied D.C., the latter alone being insufficient for operation. The relay may be polarized.
