619,823. Indicating-apparatus. MARCONI'S. WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and PEARCE, R. Dec. 30, 1946, No. 38055. [Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Group XL (c)] Means for indicating the movement of a, rotatable member comprise a drum and tape both bearing scale marks arranged so that the marks move together at the same linear speed and co-operate to give the required indication. A drum 1 has pins 2 for co-operation with a perforated tape 3 which winds from one to the other of two spools 4, 5 and is maintained in contact with the drum by two rollers 7 6, which are sprung separately or together by a spring 8. The numbers 0 to 9 are repeated round the drum to give the units digit, while the tape bears the digits of higher denomination, the two co-operating at the reading point, for example between two lines 9, to indicate the movement of the drum or member moving in correspondence therewith. In a modification the rollers 6, 7 are replaced by gear-wheels providing a drive between a gear-wheel fixed to the drum and gear-wheels fixed through coiled springs to the axes of the spools thus accommodating the gear chain to the varying diameters of the spools. The device may be used as a tuning scale for a variable condenser.
