Abstract

619,621. Moving signs; displaying: JOHNSON, F. S. Dec. 16, 1946, Nos. 37061 and 37062. [Classes 3(i) and 3(ii)] A display device comprises a frame or board having a plurality of supports for a plurality of movable pegs or the like which constitute supports for displaying articles or anchorage for a support, in combination with a screen applied to the face of the frame or board and having at least one perforation through which a peg can protrude. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a frame supported on legs 4 has the inner faces of the side members 1 provided with grooves 5 for supporting shelves 6 in alternative positions. Each shelf, Fig. 3, has a multiplicity of grooves 8 of V or other shape to receive pegs 9 retained by strips 10 and slidable outwardly to an extent limited by stops 11. Journalled at the top and bottom of the frame are spools 13 carrying a screen 14 which passes from one spool to the other over the front of the frame assisted by guide rollers 15. Holes 17 through which the pegs can protrude are provided as required in the web. Shelves provided with spring clips may be attached to the protruding .pegs for supporting articles and the uncovered part of the screen may carry instructions or advertisements. In a modificaton, the pegs are lengthened and retained in position by U- shaped rods located in holes in the sides of the frame. The shelves 6 may be solid or in the form of a framework or may be of metal, Fig. 6, in which case the pegs 9a are of U-shaped wire having outwardly bent ends 9b to form stops and protruding through slots in screen 14. The forward movement of the pegs may be limited either by a flange 6d on the shelf 6 or by projections bent downwards from the top of the shelf. Each shelf may be replaced by two or more spaced perforated strips detachably supported in the frame. In a modification, the frame may be replaced by a board provided with a multiplicity of holes either screwed or plain into which pegs can be screwed or slid. The pegs may have enlarged heads if desired. More than one screen may be provided and the Provisional Specifications describe screens held in place by a detachable framework and frames other than rectangular. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 585,305.
