[Class 38 (iv)] Pumps, compressors, winches and other auxiliary equipment for use on or in association with a heavy motor road vehicle, such as a street washer or sweeper, are driven by separate electric motors supplied from a generator, with automatic voltage control, which may be clutched into driving engagement with the power unit of the motor, preferably through a torque limiting device. In the case of an articulated vehicle the generator is mounted on the tractor and supplies apparatus on the trailer through a flexible and swivelling coupling. The generator may also supply non- motor loads, each as heaters.
