Abstract

618,078. Moulding coverings on to flexible members. BELLING & LEE, Ltd., and HURREN, C. Oct. 16, 1946, No. 30867. [Class 87 (ii)] A mould has means 14, 15, Fig. 1, for engaging a flexible member 6, e.g. a coaxial electric cable, for retaining it in position in the mould during the injection of viscous molten material, e.g. polythene, or polyvinyl chloride. The mould shown is used for insulating soldered joints 7, 8, Fig. 3, between two branch cables 4, 5 and the inner and outer conducting members of the cable 6, and comprises two parts 10, 11, each part being grooved to receive the cables. A hole 16, Fig. 3, is provided in the part 10 for the injection of molten material. Air is allowed to escape from the mould by a bleed hole.
