Abstract

617,101. Shackles. SKOLD, K. W. May 16, 1946. No. 14803. [Class 24] A shackle comprises two U-shaped members 1, 2 with leg ends 3, 4, 5, 6 formed with ribbed segments 7, 8, which engage corresponding segments 11, 12 on two sockets 9, 10 each of which fits over one leg of each U-member, 1, 2. The sockets are held on the leg ends by retaining pins 13 passing behind the leg segments when the latter are not engaging the socket segments but still permitting turning of the sockets. The sockets when engaged are locked by a pin passing through a hole 15 in the socket and into a recess 16 in the leg ends. The socket members abut each other on cylindrical or S-shaped faces.
