Abstract

616,843. Electro-therapeutic apparatus. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Aug. 13, 1946. No. 24000. Convention date, Nov. 12, 1942. [Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XL (c)] The energy of high frequency oscillations supplied for medical treatment is maintained constant by varying the coupling between the oscillator and the application device. Oscillator 1 supplies the plates 9 between which is the patient, and condenser 10 is adjusted to the point where the energy supplied to the plates is a maximum ; the variable condenser 11, 13 (half full of oil) is then connected to de-tune the circuit 5, 10, 9 and reduce the energy supplied to plates 9. Should the impedence 9 now vary, the energy drawn from the oscillator will vary to produce a variation in anode current which displaces piston 19 to vary the level of oil in condenser 11, 13 and thus vary the tuning of the circuit 5, 10, 9 to maintain the energy supplied to plates 9 constant. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also contemplates maintaining the energy constant by applying a correcting voltage to a grid of an oscillator.
