Abstract

616,664. Saws. JOHNS, A. F. Sept. 19, 1946, No. 28136. [Class 145 (ii)] A circular saw has formed near its periphery a number of radial short sawtoothed portions so that the resulting cut is wider than the width of the saw and room is provided for changing the direction of the saw in the cut. As shown, a saw blade 1 has radial cuts 3 with transverse slits 4 and 5 at their extremities, the resulting tongues being bent in opposite directions to form sawtoothed portions 6 and 7. The cuts may be plain and the tongues afterwards serrated and the ends near the periphery wider than those near the centre. In large saws the toothed portions may be welded to the blade. It is stated that the saws are particularly adapted for cutting plaster casts on limbs.
