Abstract

A plastic and adhesive metal composition, having electro-magnetic properties and adapted for use in making electro-magnetic cores for coils, as an adhesive or as a coating applied by brushing, spraying, or dipping is formed by incorporating a powdered or granular magnetically-active metal such as carbonyl iron and/or hydrogen-reduced iron in an adhesive, preferably a solution of a natural or a synthetic thermo-hardening resin. The iron powder may be insulated as by coating with zinc phosphate. In an example, 9 grams of insulated carbonyl iron powder are incorporated in 10 cc. of an alcoholic solution of phenolformaldehyde resin. Specification 624,767, [Group XXXV], is referred to.
