Abstract

616,243. Resilient mountings for seats. WITNEY, H. W. Sept. 2, 1946, Nos. 26335 and 27458. [Class 52 (i)] To enable a seat to tilt to a limited extent the connection between the seat and the upper end of the usual spindle rotatably mounted on a base comprises a block or blocks of indiarubber which is or are bonded or secured respectively to the vertical surfaces of the seat and spindle. As shown in Fig. two blocks 9 of rubber are bonded by vulcanization between a rectangular sleeve 8, secured to the upper end of the spindle 5, and plates 2 secured by angular brackets 4, to the seat 1. In a modification a squared or circular sleeve 16 of rubber is compressed between a metal sleeve 14 secured to the top of the spindle 5 and a box part 13 of a casting 12 which is secured to the seat by angular brackets 11.
