Abstract

<PICT:0615852/III/1> <PICT:0615852/III/2> An apparatus for coating a structural panel with a smooth layer of plaster comprises one or more adjustable screeding blades and supports for the panels, the blades and supports being relatively movable to effect the screeding of a plaster layer previously applied to the panel. In the form shown, a panel A, which is to be provided with a smooth plaster finish, has wooden guide strips B, fixed along each edge. A plaster layer is poured on to the panel between the strips and the whole is then mounted on a carriage 13 which can be moved, for example by hydraulic means 16, under the blades 17 and 18 which effect respectively the preliminary and final screeding of the plaster surface. The blade 17 is mounted so that it hangs freely with its screeding edge supported at the ends on guides B, whilst blade 18 is adjustable for height by screw stops 26 and is partially counterbalanced by springs 25. One or both blades may be given a transverse movement across the panel or blade 18 may be given a vibratory motion. The above apparatus may be associated with a mixing and pouring apparatus in such a manner that the whole coating process can be made continuous.
