615,286. Optical glasses. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co., and DePaolis, P. F.). Aug. 3, 1946, No. 23182. Addition to 462,304. [Class 56] The invention of the parent Specification is modified to give three groups of glasses as follows: Group 1. Refractive index 1.65-1.69, and dispersive index 50-57, with more than 35 per cent of B 2 O 3' more than 10 per cent of ThO 2 , more than 10 per cent of La 2 O 3 , more than 20 per cent of one or more of BaO, CaO, MgO. Group 2. Refractive index 1.62-1.70, and dispersive index 53.9-60, with 40-55 per cent of B 2 O 3' and Al 2 O 3 and/or BeO, at least 25 per cent of La 2 O 3 and ThO 2 , BaO and/or SrO, and not over 3 per cent of Li 2 O, or consisting of 40-55 per cent of B 2 O 3 with at least one of Al 2 O 3 , BeO, SrO 2 , the B 2 O 3 being at least 35 per cent, 30-45 per cent of La 2 O 3 and ThO 2 with at least 19 per cent La 2 O 3 and 5 per cent ThO 2 , and 13-25 per cent of the oxides of duralent metals. Group 3. Refractive index approximately 1.75, and dispersive index approximately 44, with 25-33 per cent of La 2 O 3 , 15-20 per cent of WO 3 , 10-15 per cent ThO 2 , 25-30 per cent B 2 O 3 , and 10-15 per cent of at least one of CaO, ZnO, SnO 2 . Several examples are given.
