Abstract
608,298. Optical glass. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co., and Paolis, P. F. de). Aug. 3, 1946, No. 23183. Addition to 462,304. [Class 56] The invention of the parent Specification is modified to give three groups of glasses as follows: Group 1, refractive index approximately 1.71, and dispersive index approximately 53, with not more than 46 per cent of at least two of La 2 O 3' ThO 2 , Ta 2 O 5 , &c., not more than 40 per cent of one or more of B 2 O 3 , Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 of which at least 30 per cent is B 2 O 3 , and at least 15 per cent of the oxides of one or more divalent metals of which BaO constitutes at least 7 per cent. Group 2, refractive index 1.75-1.80, and dispersive index 37-40, with 18-27 per cent of La 2 O 3 , 12-18 per cent of TiO 2 and/or MoO 3 , 12-18 per cent of ThO 2 , 15-27 per cent of one or more of BaO, SrO, CaO, CdO, 20-30 per cent B 2 O 3 , and less than 3 per cent of Al 2 O 3 and/or BeO. Group 3, refractive index 1.80-1.82, and dispersive index 40-42, with less than 70 per cent of La 2 O 3 , Ta 2 O 5 , and ThO 2 and at least 5 per cent of each, 27-30 per cent of one or more of B 2 O 3 , Al 2 O 3 and SiO 2 of which B 2 O 3 comprises 22-24 per cent, and 2-15 per cent of one or more of WO 3 , ZrO 2 and TiO 2 . Several examples are given.
