615,039. Making high-legged boots. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., BRIDGMAN, F., and PHILLIPS, L. Aug. 17, 1946, No. 24537. [Class 17 (i)] Lasts for the production of high-legged boots such as Wellingtons have separable foot and leg portions 2, 1 respectively and the leg portion is in cross-section, a mean of the cross-sections of normal right- and left-footed leg portions, and symmetrical about a median plane extending from front to back, and the contacting faces AB, BC of the foot and leg portions are coterminous, so that the leg portion may be fitted either to a right or left foot portion. The number of leg portions required to be kept in stock may be thus reduced. This number may be further reduced by making the foot portions of a group of sizes to fit a single size leg portion. The foot and leg portions may fit together by a pin 3 and socket 4 and a spring-pressed ball 5 may be urged into a recess in the foot portion to afford an additional interlock.
