614,524. Printing-machines. CLARKE, F. J., and McBEAN, G. A. July 18, 1946, No. 21555. [Classes 100(i) and 100(ii)] A platen printing- machine of the kind described in Specifications 581,554 and 610,886 is fitted on the front with a control panel 12 in which are mounted a speed indicator 19, a counting device 20, and buttons 13-18 for effecting various controls as indicated below, the buttons being arranged so as to be pulled out for operative action and to act as tripping devices if accidentally pressed. Impression adjustments. - The button 16 actuates a transmission device of the kind known under the Registered Trade Mark " Teleflex," which actuates an eccentric or crank to vary the position of the main pivot of the toggle gear which determines the printing pressure. Inking-apparatus.-The ink-rollers 28 are operated as in Specification 583,945, and the operating arm 29 is connected by a link 35 to a lever with a pawl 34 for operating a ratchet 33 on the shaft of the ink duct roller 32. The button 18 actuates by a Bowden wire 36 a mask 37 which can render the pawl 34 inoperative. Feeding sheets. - Button 17 operates a valve 49 which controls the application of suction to a sheet feeding device, and is closed when the button is pushed in. When the suction is on a machine stopping device is actuated by a feeler if sheet feed fails. Starting and stopping arrangements.- The driving motor 26 is controlled by starting and stopping buttons 13, 14, and wires 38, 39 and a clutch button 15 actuates the main clutch.
