Abstract
613,799. Electromagnetic switches. LEATHWOOD, C. W. H. July 4, 1946, No. 19972. [Class 38 (v)] An electromagnetically-operated safety switch for lifts &c. has the contact portion and the armature mounted on the lift and the operating solenoid a on the lift gate. The armature s is contained in a tube i fixed to a base j. When the lift gate is closed, the solenoid a passes over the tube i and its winding terminals g engage contacts n and push their projecting ends o into engagement with contacts k to which the supply wires are connected through a car switch. When this switch is closed, the solenoid a is energized and the armature s presses a spring-biassed rod t to the left to cause the bridging of two contacts u in the motor control circuit.
