Abstract

613,174. Testing inflated articles. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and COOPER, W. June 14, 1946, No. 17865. [Class 144 (i)] Air-bags for use in tyre manufacture, and like inflated articles, are tested by immersion whilst flexed substantially about a diameter. As shown, an air-bag 6 is supported on the longer sides of a rectangular water tank 5 into which the bag is submerged by means of a pressure-bar 12 carried by a cradle 8 pivoted to the piston-rod 9 of a power-cylinder 10. The bar 12 is adjustable in pairs of holes 8c in the side-arms of the cradle which are fitted with rollers 8a engaging flanges 7a on the framing 7.
