Abstract
612,840. Gas-turbine plant. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. May 6, 1946, No. 13691. Convention date, May 30, 1945. [Class 110 (iii)] The supply of fuel to a jet-propulsion or other gas-turbine plant is regulated by means of the device shown. Fuel is received at 26 by a fuel pump 27 and a metered flow is delivered at 68. A byepass valve 29 maintains the delivery pressure of the pump 27 above the pressure in the metered flow by a constant value determined by a spring 33. Fuel from the pump delivery chamber 28 passes a fuel valve 39 and a metering valve 42. The position of valve 39 is determined by the differential pressure oh a diaphragm 40, which is the same as the pressure drop past the metering valve, by the differential pressure on a diaphragm 41 produced by a centrifugal pump 48 driven by the turbine and by a spring 52. The pressure in chamber A produced by the centrifugal pump is determined by a leak orifice 51 as modified by a leak orifice 46 which is varied in accordance with atmospheric pressure by means of a capsule 54 and valve needle 55. The metering valve 42 is mechanically connected to the sleeve 57 of a speed-governor 56 and the spring loading of the governor is varied, through connections 63, 64, by the control lever 62.
