Abstract
611,490. Electric resonators. SUBMARINE SIGNAL CO. May 2, 1946, No. 13320. Convention date, May 17, 1945. [Class 40 (viii)] A cavity resonator is formed by inner and outer shells 3 and 4 having flexible walls with end plates 1 and 2 which may be moved together or away to change the resonator volume. Tuning is thus effected. In the arrangement shown, the shells comprise bowed plates which can overlap at their longitudinal edges so that they can bend as plates 1 and 2 are moved and still present a continuous surface. In alternative forms, the shells may comprise continuous flexible plates which fold in the manner of a Chinese lantern or an accordian.
