Abstract

610,559. Heat insulated containers. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. Feb. 27, 1946, No. 6086. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1945. [Class 64(ii)] [Also in Group XVII] A light - weight container for low-temperature storage of perishable goods &c. comprises a body 1 and lid 4 and has walls 2 and 5 of heatinsulating material, whose thickness is determined by the temperature to be maintained and the period of preservation, enclosed in a film 3 of rubber hydrochloride. The heatinsulating material has a weight - insulation factor less than 0.50 (density in lb. per cubic foot multiplied by conductivity in B.T.U. per square foot, per hour, per 1‹F, per inch) and the thickness of the walls is preferably about ¢ inch. The capacity is from one pint to one gallon. The container may be reinforced by cardboard and wires, or it may be collapsible. Examplies of heat-insulating materials are: -expanded urea formaldehyde resin, " cat-tails " and cellular silica.
