Abstract

610,144. Agricultural implements. SPILLER, C. W. March 28, 1946, No. 9659. [Class 6(i)] A hoeing implement of the type wherein a plurality of tool-carrying frames F are pivoted on a cross-bar 1 is characterized by the association of each frame with a collar 11 slidably mounted on the cross-bar and furnished with a screw 12 for securing it against lateral displacement. In the form shown, the tool-carrying frames F are pivoted on a cross-bar 1 carried by a crossmember 22 which is secured to the chassis 3 of a tractor, between the front and rear wheels. Each frame, Fig. 4, includes side members 4 interconnected by ties 5, 6 and 7, each of the rearward ties 6 and 7 comprising a pair of parallel bars between which a clamping member 13 carrying the stem 16 of a hoe 2 is mounted so as to be laterally adjustable. The frames F are independently slidable along the cross-bar and are retained in an adjusted position by the locking collars 11. The frames can rise and fall independently, but they may be lifted in unison by the operation of a lever 28 which raises a transversely-disposed bar 26 suspended from pivoted arms 27. Sideplay between the pivoted frames F and the cross-bar 1 is taken up by a screw 19 threaded through the tie 5 and engaging a hole in a collar 20 freely mounted on the cross-bar 1. Wedge-shaped weights 25 may be mounted on the frames to assist the hoes to enter the ground.
