609,729. Casting composite articles. PLASCO, Ltd., (Crown Fastener Corporation). Oct. 16, 1945, No. 27105. [Class 83 (i)] [Also in Groups V and XXV] Moulds.-A die for moulding on to a tape 10 the elements 14 of a sliding clasp fastener, said elements each having a V-shape when looking towards the tape edgewise as in Fig., 2 and an enlarged head 18 with a throat 19 and body 114 when looking at the tape broadwise as in Fig. 1, comprises two parts 20, 21, Fig; 3, the parting faces of which have a groove for the tape edge 12, Fig. 5, and registering cavities 26, 27 which, in any section parallel to the parting surface, have a shape which widens from the extremity remote from the groove then narrows and widens again in approaching the groove and, in any section perpendicular to the parting, surface and parallel to the tape edge, is a quadrilateral, the first side of which lies in the parting surface, the second makes an angle more, and the fourth less, than 9.0 degrees to the first side, and the second and fourth sides do not diverge as they approach the third side. After casting each die is withdrawn by a movement, relative to the casting, which is inclined to the parting surface. The dies may have water-cooling passages 24, 25.
